French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review
Combining form and function, French-door refrigerators offer elegant double doors that open to an enormous fridge on top and freezer drawer below. These refrigerators stand out due to their distinctive features, like door-to-door dispensers and more expensive Ice makers.
We consulted experts such as Ladina Schopf, an interior designer, architect, and founder of LS Projects, for tips on how to select the best one. They looked at storage capacity, layout and energy efficiency, among other features.
GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
The name implies that GE's Profile series is targeted at the consumer who wants to incorporate cutting-edge technology in their kitchen. This refrigerator has it all, from the Keurig K cup coffee maker inside the door to a sophisticated dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator is an extra amount, I'd like to see better.
This fridge is a great choice, despite the blip. It has a large freezer compartment which is uncommon for counter-depth French door fridges. It also holds plenty of frozen food compared to other models.
Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is roughly on what you would expect from the size of a French door fridge costing this much. It also has a decent sized ice maker packed into the left door, but it isn't the largest I've seen.
You can alter the shelves in both compartments to create a the perfect storage solution. The GE PYE22PYNFS's design for the interior is stylish, too. The LED lighting is a nice addition and the inside storage bins come with an additional shelf that folds up beneath itself to allow you to store tall items. The drawers come with temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage, or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to shut and open however I found the textured plastic coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.
The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator has all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator within this price range. This includes Wi-Fi as well as app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and lets you manage your refrigerator from anywhere across the globe. It also comes with a lot of customization options. It also gives you notifications when doors are left open, when the refrigerator or freezer needs defrosting and when it's time to change the filter.
It would be nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS came with Precise Fill it's an option in a few other GE refrigerators that allows you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to dispense at once. It does offer a countdown on the fridge's display to display how much water you have remaining, but that's not as effective as Precise Fill.

The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. This refrigerator is ideal for a single household or a kitchenette that wants an elegant design and top of the highest quality food preservation.
The fridge was rated the best refrigerator in our Refrigerators test, for various reasons. Its freezer temperatures remained constant at just above 0°F and never changed by more than a fraction, this is essential to avoid the risk of a freezer burn. The fridge section of the fridge also performed well, reaching the desired temperature for initial set within a matter of hours and keeping that temperature steady throughout the course of our tests.
Bosch is known for its high-end appliances and appliances, so it's not a surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance that has the option to connect to your home Wi-Fi network and Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app allows you to control and monitor the refrigerator remotely using your tablet or smartphone. The fridge is expensive, but it offers excellent features and functionality for the price.
While the fridge is an amazing appliance, it's important to know the limitations. It has a small shelf space, which means you may need to be creative when storing tall objects. The shelves are not resistant to spills and are easily damaged or stained by sharp items. It is easy to take out the trays from the fridge However, be sure to clean them regularly to prevent mold growth.

If you're thinking of buying this refrigerator, be sure to review our opinions on the GE Appliances French Door Refrigerator as well as the Bosch Bottom Freezer Refrigerator.
LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth fridge is a great option for those who need lots of space within a small frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the refrigerator has an ordinary French-door design with gallon-sized bins for the doors on each door as well as two rows of shelves for spill-capture and a set of crisper drawers. frydge.uk on the right side can be folded in order to create more space for taller items. There's also a full-width drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser.
One of the best features of this refrigerator is that the ice maker is inside the freezer, which makes it easy to move the ice to the refrigerator to be used when it is required. The freezer also has innovative design features like sliding drawers that can help you sort your things. It also has a large container for storing frozen food, and a separate one for ice.
Smart InstaView panel is a cool feature of the refrigerator. You can control the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your refrigerator from your smartphone. It's a simple method to keep track of your refrigerator and control it, especially when not at home.
But while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it does not necessarily add to the overall performance of the refrigerator. The refrigerator took longer to chill food and defrost it than other models we tested. This is probably due to its greater capacity.
The other issue we have with the door of this refrigerator. They have sunken handles on the front, which allow shorter people to easily pull them open from the bottom, but they're still difficult for taller people to pull shut without slamming them. It would have been better to have front-mounted handles.
The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is a great choice for those looking to combine the aesthetics of a French-door refrigerator with more efficient design. It has a capacity that is above average for counter-depth models and also cools evenly. It's also a little less than the top counter depth refrigerators that have an icemaker, which makes it a great option.
Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a great choice when you're looking for a French door refrigerator that doesn't cost a lot of budget. It has a simple design that isn't as striking in appearance as some of the competition, but it has enough features to make it a solid option. Its most important characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer which helps keep food items like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser and a decent ice machine that works fast.
Another nice feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits over the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you redirect some of the refrigerator's cooling power directly to this area, so you can store foods that require special attention. This feature can be adjusted by using a slider on the outside of the drawer. You can also set the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the general settings work better than the specific ones.
During my tests, I discovered that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across different areas of the fridge. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the refrigerator didn't vary much from 38 degrees. This is a solid performance but isn't quite at the top of our ratings.
This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also pair this fridge with an intelligent thermometer to get more precise measurements of your fridge's temperature.
The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is made of stainless steel with a grey-bodied body that has a "smudge-proof" finish. It does an excellent job of preventing streaks and fingerprints from appearing even when compared with glossy stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
